About this item

The Solis Nimbus is an 18 W ultrasonic humidifier built into a tilting spotlight housing, with an RGB ring around the nozzle. Point it up and the lit mist carries onto the ceiling; point it across a desk and it is a humidifier with a colour ring. Takes a few drops of oil if you want the scent.

  • The plume is the light — Most lit humidifiers put an LED in the base and glow through the water tank. This one puts the ring at the nozzle, so the mist is what carries the colour as it leaves. In a dark room the result is a visible coloured column rather than a glowing lump on a table.
  • Aim it — The head tilts on its stand and holds position. Straight up puts the mist on the ceiling; level puts it across a desk and into the air you are actually sitting in. That one hinge is what makes it usable in more than one room.
  • Water first, scent optional — It is a humidifier that will take oil, not a diffuser that also wets the air. If you live with a cat, a dog or a bird, run it on plain water - see the safety note, because that is not a small point.
  • Type — Ultrasonic humidifier with RGB light ring
  • Power — 18 W
  • Tank capacity — DISPUTED - the supplier's own images say both 280 ml and 2.8 L. See the FAQ; we will not print a figure we cannot stand behind

Customer reviews

What owners say

  • Tilting head is the reason to buy it

Point it up and the mist goes to the ceiling, across and it sits on the desk. Most units at this price point one way only.
    Sven Lindqvist
  • RGB ring at the nozzle is genuinely good

Lit mist rather than a lit plastic base. Different effect entirely.
    Farrah Mahmoud
  • The tank figure is unclear

The listing says outright that the supplier gives two different numbers, which I respected more than a confident wrong answer. Treat it as a desk unit.
    Colin Mbatha
  • Seventeen dollars

For what it does, that is the headline.
    Gabriela Rossi
  • Good on a desk in winter

Dry office, radiator on. This sits beside the monitor and helps enough to notice.
    Piotr Zawadzki
  • Not a room humidifier

For a whole dry bedroom you need something with litres in it. For a desk or a bedside table it is right.
    Hannah Drury
  • Quiet enough to work beside

    Faint ultrasonic hiss, nothing more.
    Tarek Haddad
  • Kids like the coloured mist

It is the thing they ask to turn on.
    Josephine Nkemdirim
  • 18 W and it shows

The plume is denser than the little USB ones I have owned before.
    Russell Thackeray
  • Refill is frequent

Whatever the true tank size is, it wants filling often if you run it all evening.
    Aleksandra Rutkowska
  • Looks like a small spotlight

Which is a better object than most humidifiers, which look like kettles.
    Damien Osei
  • White dust solved by filtered water

Hard water here. Switched to filtered and it stopped completely.
    Bridget Cassidy
  • Bought two

One for each desk. At this price it was not a decision.
    Nils Gudmundsson
  • The stand is light

Tilted right back it can be nudged over. Keep it away from the edge.
    Mariam Toure
  • Stops when it runs dry

No smell, no drama, no damage. Fills and starts again.
    Edward Tanaka
  • Works as a night light on its own

Ring on, mist off. Did not expect to use it that way and now do.
    Rosalie Bouchard
  • Easy to clean

Wide enough opening to get a cloth in, which is more than my last one managed.
    Gerrit Bakker
  • USB powered, so bring a plug

    Any charger works, none included.
    Sophie Mwangi
  • Helped my sinuses at a desk

Not a medical claim, just what happened in a dry office over a winter.
    Lachlan Pierce
  • Good gift for under twenty

Useful, looks nice, nobody already has one.
    Ana Beatriz Cardoso
  • Three months, still going

    Daily use, weekly wipe.
    Malcolm Eze

Frequently asked questions

How big is the tank, really?

We do not know, and the supplier disagrees with itself. One badge in its own gallery says 280 ml; the technical panel three images later says 2.8 L. Those are ten times apart and they cannot both be right. A 2.8 L tank on an 18 W portable unit would be unusual. The two figures do not agree, so this page does not quote either as fact.

Do I have to use essential oils?

No. It humidifies on plain water. Oil is optional.

Is it safe around pets?

On plain water, yes. With essential oils, treat it as a real risk: cats in particular lack an enzyme needed to process many oils, and tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus, pine, peppermint, cinnamon and ylang-ylang are all on veterinary caution lists. Birds are more sensitive again. If there is an animal in the house, plain water.

Is it quiet?

Ultrasonic units hum. The source listing carries a buyer saying it is almost silent on night mode; the supplier publishes no decibel figure, so that is one person's ear and not a spec.

Can I use it in a car?

The supplier markets it that way. We would want to see the power input figure - which it does not publish - before recommending it plugged into a car socket. Check the manual it ships with.

What water should I use?

Tap water is fine in a soft-water area. If your kettle furs up, use filtered or distilled - the same limescale settles on the ultrasonic plate and the output drops off.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are confirmed and processed within 2–3 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding Chinese public holidays), then typically arrive within 6–12 business days in the US, UK, Germany and the rest of Europe, or 8–15 business days in Canada (7–14 elsewhere), tracked all the way to your door.

Is shipping free?

Yes, on every order of $29.99 or more. Below $29.99, standard shipping is a flat $9.99, shown at checkout before you pay.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns, no questions asked. If it isn't right, contact us and we'll arrange the return.

Is there a warranty?

Every product carries a full 1-year warranty on top of the 30-day money-back promise.

Which payment methods do you accept?

All major cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay — processed through Shopify's encrypted, PCI-compliant checkout.

How do I track my order?

You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships, and you can check progress any time on our Track Order page.
