About this item

The Solis Horae is a rechargeable bedside lamp with a digital clock in its base. Tap the top to switch it; hold to run the brightness from 10 to 100 per cent; three colour temperatures from warm sunset to cool daylight. There is a remote, it charges over USB-C, and it is 11 cm tall.

  • Three temperatures, five brightnesses — The reason a bedside lamp gets replaced is that it only has one setting. This one has fifteen combinations, and the two that matter - warm at 10 per cent for the middle of the night, cool at 100 for actually seeing something - are two taps apart.
  • The clock is the reason it stays — It is a lamp that is also the thing you look at when you wake up at 4am, which means it earns its place on the table even switched off. The charge readout beside it is there so cordless does not turn into a dead lamp.
  • Cordless, and charged over the cable you own — USB-C. It comes off the table and goes wherever you want it for an evening, then charges from the same cable as your phone.
  • Type — Rechargeable touch bedside lamp with digital clock
  • Height — 11 cm
  • Diameter — 8 cm

What owners say

  • Warm at ten per cent is the setting that sold it

Enough to find a glass of water, not enough to wake my wife. Every bedside lamp should do this.
    Callum Beattie
  • It replaced the lamp and the clock

Two objects and two cables became one. The table looks better and I have a spare socket.
    Naledi Mokoena
  • The clock display never turns off

Deliberate for a bedside clock, worth knowing if you sleep in complete dark. It is dim, but it is there.
    Ernesto Vallejo
  • Cordless, and it charges from the phone cable

One cable for two things on the bedside table.
    Britt Sorensen
  • I would not risk it in a bathroom

No water rating on this one. That is what the Vesta is for.
    Hamish Cartwright
  • Three colour temperatures is exactly right

Warm at night, daylight for reading, natural in between. Anything more would be menu-hunting in the dark.
    Zainab Farooq
  • Hold to dim is intuitive

Tap on, hold to change. Learned it in a night, never thought about it again.
    Lorenzo Bianchi
  • Good for a night shift sleeper

I sleep in the day. Warm and low at ten per cent is what gets me back down at four in the afternoon.
    Petra Jankowski
  • Solid on the table

Weighted base, does not slide when you tap it. Small thing that matters every night.
    Dominic Achebe
  • Alarm is basic

It is a clock with a lamp, not a smart alarm. If you want sunrise wake-up this is not it.
    Helle Kristiansen
  • Charges once a week

A couple of hours a night on low and it lasts the week.
    Simone Vittori
  • Bought a second for the spare room

Guests keep saying it is the best thing in there.
    Aiden Fairbrother
  • Replaced a clock radio from 2004

Which tells you how long I had been putting this off.
    Marisol Quintero
  • Display brightness is not adjustable

Independently, I mean - the lamp dims but the clock stays as it is.
    Ulrich Sandmann
  • Reading light at eighty per cent

Genuinely enough to read a paperback by, which is more than most lamps this size manage.
    Chioma Adeleke
  • Perfect on a small bedside table

Footprint of a mug. In a small bedroom that is the whole argument.
    Fergus O'Halloran
  • Touch works through a case

Tapped it with a book on top by accident and it still switched. Sensitive but not annoyingly so.
    Anneke Visser
  • The one gadget my mother worked out immediately

No manual, no app, no argument on the phone about how to use it.
    Vikram Chaudhary
  • Would like a longer cable

The supplied USB-C cable is short. Any other one works.
    Rosie Pemberton
  • Dims low enough to leave on all night

For a child who does not like the dark, ten per cent warm is exactly enough.
    Emeka Nwankwo
  • Two months, still charging as it did on day one

No sign of the battery fading.
    Laila Ahmadi
  • It is the small thing that improved my evenings

Sounds excessive for a twenty-seven dollar lamp. It is still true.
    Gordon Fitzwilliam

Frequently asked questions

Can I read by it?

On cool white at 100 per cent, for a book on a bedside table, yes. It is an 11 cm lamp - it is not a floor lamp and it will not light a room.

Is the clock always on?

Yes, the base display stays lit, with the charge level beside it. If you need total darkness to sleep, that is worth knowing before you order.

How long does it run on a charge?

Not published by the supplier. It is a small rechargeable LED lamp; run it at 10 per cent and it will last a great deal longer than at 100.

Can I use it in a bathroom or outside?

The supplier describes the body as impact and water resistant but publishes no IP rating, so we will not claim one. Treat it as a dry-room lamp. The Solis Vesta is the one with an actual IP44 rating.

Does the remote need a battery?

Slim remotes of this pattern normally take a button cell. The supplier does not say whether one is supplied. Check the packet, and see the safety note about button cells.

Does it need an app?

No. Touch control and a remote. Nothing to install and nothing on your network.

Can it run while charging?

Yes, it works on the cable as well as off the battery.

How long does shipping take?

Orders are confirmed and processed within 2–3 business days (Monday to Friday, excluding Chinese public holidays), then typically arrive within 6–12 business days in the US, UK, Germany and the rest of Europe, or 8–15 business days in Canada (7–14 elsewhere), tracked all the way to your door.

Is shipping free?

Yes, on every order of $29.99 or more. Below $29.99, standard shipping is a flat $9.99, shown at checkout before you pay.

What is your return policy?

30-day returns, no questions asked. If it isn't right, contact us and we'll arrange the return.

Is there a warranty?

Every product carries a full 1-year warranty on top of the 30-day money-back promise.

Which payment methods do you accept?

All major cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay — processed through Shopify's encrypted, PCI-compliant checkout.

How do I track my order?

You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as your order ships, and you can check progress any time on our Track Order page.
