About this item

The Solis Core Reactor is a machined-aluminium reactor replica that doubles as a 15 W wireless charger: rest your phone against its face and it charges, and when the phone is gone it is the best-lit object on the desk.

  • A charger you leave out on purpose — Most wireless pads are black discs you hide behind a monitor. This one is the reason people ask about your desk. Lean the phone against the reactor's face and the coil, 5 mm under the surface, takes over — up to 15 W on phones that support it.
  • Machined, not moulded — The frame is CNC-cut aluminium alloy with a brushed anodised finish, and the coil segments are separate pieces set into it. At 600 g it has the weight of a desk object, not a toy.
  • Light and sound — Power it on and the core fades up blue with a start-up sound. Double-tap the base for the pulse effect. It senses when a phone is placed and manages its own temperature while charging.
  • Size — 164 × 164 × 154 mm
  • Weight — 600 g
  • Input — 5 V/2 A, 9 V/2 A

What owners say

  • Heavier than it looks

At 600 g it does not slide around when I lean my phone on it. Feels like a solid block of metal, which it mostly is.
    Kevin R.
  • Best thing on my desk

Everyone on video calls asks what the glowing blue thing behind me is. It also happens to charge my phone.
    Alicia M.
  • Take the thick case off

My rugged case blocked it at first. With a slimmer case it charges every time.
    Brandon T.
  • The start-up sound

Plugging it in for the first time and hearing the power-up sound made me laugh out loud. Double-tap pulse is a nice extra.
    Megan F.
  • Brushed finish is real

The aluminium frame is properly machined, and the copper coil pieces are separate parts set into it. No cheap plastic shine.
    Julian S.
  • Slower on my phone

My phone only takes 7.5 W wirelessly, so it is not fast. Fine overnight, just not a quick top-up.
    Nora K.
  • Gift box was a bonus

Gave it to my husband for our anniversary. The box looked good enough that I did not bother wrapping it.
    Teresa L.
  • Nightstand glow

Keeps a soft blue light by the bed and my phone is full by morning. One cable to the wall and that is it.
    Andrew P.
  • Fast on my Android

Hits the full 15 W on my phone. Goes from 30 to around 80 percent over lunch.
    Samir H.
  • Needs the right adapter

Use a proper 9 V adapter to get the faster speed. On an old 5 V plug it still worked, just slower.
    Olivia G.
  • Engraving around the ring

The little inscription around the ring is the detail I keep noticing. Sits under my monitor and looks like a prop.
    Lucas B.
  • Desk setup finished

I had the figures and the posters, this pulled it together. Lean the phone, it starts, done.
    Chris W.
  • Bright for a dark bedroom

Lovely piece, but the blue core is a lot in a pitch-black room. Moved it to my office where it belongs.
    Dana R.
  • Does not get hot

Charged my phone through a whole afternoon and neither the phone nor the reactor got more than slightly warm.
    Patrick O.
  • Big enough to notice

At about 16 cm across it is bigger than a normal pad. That is the point for me, it is a display piece first.
    Rachel V.
  • Placement matters a bit

You need to lean the phone fairly central on the face. Once I learned the sweet spot it was no issue.
    Evan J.
  • Son's graduation present

He is moving into his first apartment and wanted something for his desk. He sent me a photo of it lit up the same night.
    Linda C.
  • Detects the phone itself

No button to press. Phone goes on, it starts charging, phone comes off, it just glows.
    Mateo A.
  • Retired my black pad

The plain charging disc went in a drawer. This one I actually want to see on the desk.
    Jessica N.
  • Solid build all round

Weighty, cleanly finished and no wobble on the base. Exactly what the photos showed.
    Hugo E.

Frequently asked questions

Will it charge my phone?

Yes, if your phone supports Qi wireless charging — iPhone 8 and newer, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and most current Android phones. Thick or metal cases and magnetic wallets can stop it charging; take them off if it does not start.

How fast does it charge?

Up to 15 W on phones that support 15 W wireless charging. iPhones charge at up to 7.5 W over Qi. The speed is set by the phone, so the reactor charges each one as fast as it accepts.

Do I need a cable?

One — to power the reactor itself (5 V/2 A or 9 V/2 A). After that your phone charges with no cable at all.

Does it make sound?

Yes: a start-up sound when it powers on and a pulse effect when you double-tap the base.
